Omara Strategy Group President on Engaging The Rising American Electorate Online

Last month at the Campaigns & Elections Magazine’s Digital Campaign Summit Omara Strategy Group President, Atima Omara led an expert political strategist panel discussion at the Democratic Strategy Break on engaging the *Rising American Electorate online. Here are some takeaways for 2024 and beyond.

1) Generation Z are digital natives out of the womb, they prefer to get their information/news they consume in a video format.

2) Don’t sleep on using influencers as part of your digital voter engagement program. Yes that person with 10k followers discussing best makeup tips can have a deep impact in outreach if they are engaged to support a political or issue campaign

3) YouTube is where 80% of Americans who are online are and so is a huge percentage of the Rising American Electorate.

4) WhatsApp is a powerful tool for engaging voters of color, whether they are in rural areas in the US or have family in the Global South.

5) Start your programs early! You want to build impact through digital start before September.

*Rising American Electorate define as voters of color, unmarried women, and voters under 45.*
